Junior Surf

Junior Surf caters for kids under the age of 14. The Rookie training programme is offered to kids over 12yrs to develop surf lifesaving skills needed to become Surf Lifeguards. The emphasis is on fun and participation while encouraging children to develop surf skills and knowledge through surf activities and surf sports.

Ruakaka Surf Club offers regular Junior Surf training sessions every Sunday morning at 10.00 a.m. throughout the surf season. We also organize special club days as well as the End of Year Prizegiving ( See our club calendar )

The program is designed to introduce our youngest members to promote water safety and ‘surf sense’ and surf sports and events. There are opportunities to meet with other surf clubs for surf carnivals and regional competitions. Surf sports provide individuals the opportunity to develop confidence and compete in surf events.

Our commitment:
The club runs the Surf Lifesaving Northern Region Junior Surf Program. We are a family orientated club, with many families actively involved in the operation of the club. To minimize risk we require a minimum ratio of one adult to every five children for water based activities.
